Vietnam welcomes investment from Switzerland
VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomes Swiss businesses wanting to invest or expand their investment in Vietnam, especially in services, finance-banking, insurance, high-tech, manufacturing industry, and medicine.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on October 11 for the Swiss Minister of State for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen Fleisch, Phuc spoke highly of the 2012 recognition by Switzerland and the European Free Trade Association that Vietnam is a market economy.
He said he hopes Switzerland and other parties involved will step up negotiations on a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Association including Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
The government leader also expressed his hopes that Switzerland will continue to provide ODA for Vietnam.
He thanked Switzerland for prioritising the provision of official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in 2013-2016, saying Vietnam pledges to use the capital effectively and hopes to receive more ODA from the European nation in 2017-2020 to realize development target programmes.
The PM also suggested Switzerland share experience in developing high quality education, vocational training, and science technology while increasing scholarships for Vietnamese students.
The guest said Swiss businesses are keen on the Vietnamese market and that Vietnam is one of the favorite destinations for Swiss tourists.
She added that one of main targets of her visit is to boost FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association.
