Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych left Hanoi on March 27, concluding his visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

President Yanukovych had talks with Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The leaders of the two countries expressed great determination to develop the ties of comprehensive cooperation and partnership and agreed to maintain regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations to provide fresh impetus for multi-faceted cooperation with a focus on economics, trade, agriculture, industry and tourism.

There are also fine prospects for cooperation in other fields such as energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, national defence and security and education and training. In the spirit of frankness, openness and mutual trust, the two sides agreed to closely coordinate efforts at regional and international forums.

The Ukrainian President pointed out that after a long period of interruption, this official visit will pave the way for strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Ukraine is keen to broaden cooperative ties with Vietnam and has high hope that Vietnam will be a bridge for his country to establish ties with ASEAN and other countries in the region.
