The UK Minister of State for Security, Counter-Terrorism, Crime and Policing, David Hanson, met with leaders from Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi on November 19 to discuss ways of stepping up bilateral cooperation in security, anti-terrorism and migration.

Mr Hanson also compared notes with Major General Trieu Van Dat, Deputy Head of the General Police Department on possible joint policing initiatives.

At a meeting with the media later the same day, Mr Hanson praised the joint efforts made by the UK and Vietnam in various fields and acknowledged Vietnam’s valuable contribution to maintaining security in the region. He said he hopes that his visit to Vietnam will open up more opportunities for both countries to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields in the future.
