The National Assembly’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien on December 13 gave a reception for a Tunisian delegation led by Mrs Saida Chtioui who is in Vietnam to attend the second session of the Vietnam-Tunisia Inter-governmental Committee.
Vice NA Chairman Kien said that the Vietnamese Party, State and people have always tried to develop cooperation with Tunisia.
The two countries have exchanged high-level delegations and signed an agreement to avoid double taxation. They are also considering opening a Vietnamese representative office in Tunisia and have negotiated to reach an investment protection agreement to facilitate the operations of businesses from both sides.
Mr Kien underscored the two countries’ great potential for development cooperation, saying that Vietnamese enterprises are keen to do business in Tunisia.
Mr Kien also expressed wishes for the two legislative bodies to step up cooperation and share their experiences.
Mrs Chtioui emphasised that parliamentary diplomacy will be strengthened to promote cooperative relations between Vietnam and Tunisia. Therefore, the exchange of parliamentary delegations and the setting up of parliamentarian group between the two countries are of great significance.
