The Vietnamese leader made this statement while receiving Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisulit, Special Envoy of Lao Party General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, who came to present the results of the 9th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), in Hanoi on March 28.
The Party chief congratulated Laos on the success of the 9th LPRP National Congress, saying that it is not only significant for the revolutionary cause of Laos but also a great encouragement for Vietnam in its renewal and national construction and defence.
He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP headed by General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, the Lao people will record greater achievements in their renewal cause, to successfully build a peaceful, independent, democratic, united and prosperous Lao country.
Deputy PM Thoonglun Sisulit, who is also Head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and Foreign Minister, stressed that the LPRP will consistently pursue its renewal policy to lift Laos out of its underdeveloped nation status by 2020.
He affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will continue to attach importance to maintaining and promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.
