Party General Secretary and State President of Laos Chummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong made the statement at a September 6 reception for Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Tran Dai Quang, who is on a working visit to Laos from Sept. 5-7. 

They noted that the two countries have reached a high consensus on many important issues, especially in the fields of investment cooperation and trade. 

Minister Quang said the two ministries will promote cooperation in many fields, especially personnel training and issues of mutual concern such as exchanges of information and delegations, drug and crime prevention, maintaining border security and fulfilling missions signed by the two sides this year. 

Quang added that the cooperation will contribute to ensuring socio-political security, serving the national construction and development of each country and fostering the Vietnam – Laos special friendship.
