Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged Vietnam and Thailand to build a mechanism for strengthening cooperation in rice processing and exporting.
  • Thailand-Vietnam trade cooperation flourishes

At a July 12 reception in Hanoi for Thai Minister of Commerce Boonsong Teriyapirom, PM Dung said he hopes that both countries will do their best to promote multifaceted cooperation for mutual benefit.

He proposed that Vietnam and Thailand fully tap their huge potential for development cooperation and implement effective measures to boost two-way trade.

Minister Teriyapirom briefed his host on the results of his meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Vu Huy Hoang, reaffirming that Thailand always attaches importance to enhancing ties with Vietnam, especially in trade and investment.

Thailand will join hands with Vietnam to maintain the annual growth of two-way trade at around 20 percent.

He also pledged to encourage Thai businesses to invest in Vietnam and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to seek opportunities in his country.

In addition to rice processing and exporting, Thailand also wants to foster cooperation with Vietnam in aquaculture farming and processing, he said.
