Vietnam supports Cuba-US dialogue, calls for normalisation of relations
VOV.VN - Vietnam backs dialogue between Cuba and the US on the basis of international law and hopes the two sides will soon improve relations for regional peace and stability.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on April 2, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said Vietnam is closely monitoring developments in Cuba and believes the country will overcome the current difficulties and challenges.
The spokeswoman said Vietnam maintains solidarity and traditional friendship with Cuba, while continuing to support international efforts to end the embargo against the Caribbean nation.
“Vietnam affirms its solidarity and traditional friendship with the brotherly Cuban people and supports resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly calling for the removal of the unilateral embargo against Cuba.”
Regarding Cuba0US relations, the spokesperson said Vietnam supports dialogue based on international law and expressed hope that both sides will make positive progress.
“Vietnam welcomes and supports dialogue between Cuba and the US to seek solutions to differences in their bilateral relations on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the fundamental principles of international law.
Vietnam hopes the two sides will soon find common ground, move towards improving and normalising relations for the benefit of the two nations’ people and for peace, cooperation, stability and development in the region and the world,” she said.
