Vietnam strengthens cooperation with La Francophonie
VOV.VN - Vietnam is seeking to boost cooperation with the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) following a meeting between Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Permanent Representative of the President of Vietnam to the Permanent Council of La Francophonie and OIF Administrator Caroline St-Hilaire in Paris on
During the meeting, St-Hilaire congratulated the ambassador on assuming her new role on February 26 after presenting credentials from President Luong Cuong to OIF Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo.
She spoke highly of Vietnam’s role, standing and contributions within the organisation and expressed hope the country would continue contributing to the OIF’s common goals.
The Vietnamese Ambassador thanked the OIF leadership and reaffirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to cooperation with the organisation and remains an active and responsible member.
She stated that the recent visit to Vietnam by Secretary-General Mushikiwabo from March 5 to 7 helped further deepen cooperation between Vietnam and the OIF.
The two sides agreed to work closely to implement outcomes from St-Hilaire’s visit to Vietnam in 2025 as well as the recent trip by the OIF Secretary-General.
They also discussed cooperation in French-language education, ways to encourage young people to learn French, and the development of a French-speaking workforce, including language training for Vietnamese personnel participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The two sides further exchanged views on expanding economic cooperation between Vietnam and Francophone countries, digital transformation, sustainable tourism, coordination at multilateral forums, and strengthening economic autonomy and the role of women.
The meeting took place in a frank, open and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing readiness to further expand cooperation in the coming period.
