Vietnam stall attracts foreigners
The Vietnam stall, which was bedecked with yellow-starred red flags, has attracted a lot of visitors to the L’Humanite press festival in Paris’s La Courneuve park.
Nhan Dan newspaper was the main representative of Vietnam at the festival.
No wonder among the first visitors were those who strongly supported Vietnam’s past struggle a long time ago and have continued to follow its developments with keen interest and deep love.
Marie Herbel recalled her first activity in support of Vietnam in 1967, when she was only 12 years old. “At the initiative of young French communists, I sold bread and yoghurt to raise money for a ship to Vietnam. I joined the anti-war movement because I didn’t want to see the country being invaded.”

Daniel, a man living in Paris, stood for a long while in front of the books about General Vo Nguyen Giap. He told VOV that he had read a number of French books about the general and considered Giap an outstanding tactician that helped Vietnam win in its war against colonialism.
Out of his love for Vietnamese liberators, Daniel spent a lot of time seeking a white ‘mu coi’ during his recent trip to Vietnam. ‘Mu coi’ is a kind of hard hat worn by many Vietnamese revolutionaries and soldiers in the past.
Denise, said she had attended the L’Humanite press festival many times and she often called at the Vietnam stand first. This time, she decided to buy a manually made piece of garment with beautiful decoration to replace the old one she was wearing. She told VOV that the garment would keep her fond memories of Vietnam alive.

“If there is anywhere I want to return to, it’s certainly Vietnam. I am very impressed by the local people’s hospitality. On some occasions when I was walking, elderly people came over and spoke to me in French. I found their manner really pleasant.”
As usual, the Vietnamese cuisine section was crowded with visitors, who like to taste Vietnam’s ‘nem’ (spring rolls), ‘cha’ (grilled chopped meat) and rice which are their favourite food.
Involved with Vietnamese cooks at the festival were some of their French friends, who wished to introduce international visitors to Vietnamese food.

During the festival, a lot of French politicians, historians and economists also called at the Vietnam stand to wish that Vietnam would join hands with other countries to cope with new challenges in the world today.
