Vietnamese and Singaporean diplomats conducted first-time exchanges at ministerial assistant level in Hanoi from December 10-12 in order to boost mutual understanding and tighten cooperative relations.

The event took place as bilateral relations continue to develop in terms of politics, economy, trade, investment, education and training, security and national defence.

Both sides have benefited from various cooperation policies, especially the Framework Agreement on Vietnam-Singapore Linkage and regularly exchanged high-level visits.

On December 10, the Singaporean delegation paid a courtesy visit to leaders of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam in Hanoi . The two sides discussed measures to further enhance bilateral cooperation, especially when Vietnam assumes the ASEAN Presidency in 2010.

Second time exchanges between the two foreign ministries of Vietnam and Singapore will be held in Singapore by 2010.
