Vietnam’s senior leaders always look forward to strategic cooperation with France, the Vietnamese minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh has affirmed.

Minister Anh delivered the idea to French Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Alain Juppe during their talks in Paris on May 4.

Both discussed the enhancement of multi-faceted cooperation, especially in culture and foreign affairs.

Minister Juppe said he supports Vietnam’s initiative to hold Year of Vietnamese Culture in France and Year of French Culture in Vietnam as part of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

They also discussed ways to put into operation two Vietnamese Culture Centres in France.

Anh asked the French side to support Vietnam’s efforts to seek UNESCO’s recognition of the Ho Dynasty’s citadel as cultural heritage.

Later the same day, he met with French State Secretary for Tourism Frederic Lefebre to review the implementation of the protocol on tourism cooperation signed in 2005.
