Vietnam and Russia have agreed a draft list of priority tasks to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries in 2007.

The agreement was reached at a meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-government Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Hanoi last week. The Vietnamese sub-committee was led by Deputy Trade Minister Le Danh Vinh and the Russian sub-committee by D.I Sukhaparov.

The two sides discussed measures to enhance bilateral trade and investment relations, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting between the two chairmen of the Committee in June.

The list was compiled by the Russian subcommittee under an initiative introduced by President Vladimir Putin at his meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi last November.

During the visit, the Russian delegation was received by Industry Minister Hoang Trung Hai, chairman of the Vietnam sub-committee.
