Vietnam should learn from the Republic of Korea (RoK) about planning and developing industrial sectors and building industrial parks, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai during his working visit to Jeju province on June 20th as part of his tour of the RoK for the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2009.

Over the past few years, Vietnam-RoK relations have developed in many fields, particularly after both countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership for the 21st century in 2001.

Jeju is a renowned tourism city which has a wealth of experience in developing the “non-smoke” industry so Vietnam wants to exchange ideas with the province on tourism development in the future, said Mr Hai.

During the visit, Mr Hai met ambassadors and foreign affairs advisors and visited a number of production, construction, management and planning establishments in Jeju province.

The RoK has well implemented tourism promotion programmes and has strongly developed the manufacturing industries. Vietnam should, therefore, learn the RoK’s experience in planning and developing industrial sectors and building industrial parks while ensuring healthy environmental conditions in order to develop key tourism sites, Mr Hai noted.
