•  Vietnam, Singapore strengthen ties

Mr. Trong made the statement this while receiving the Singaporean ambassador Simon Wong in Hanoi on August 23.

The ambassador congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the 11^th National Party Congress and Mr. Trong on his election as the Party chief. He expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s great achievements during its renewal process and national construction and developments.

 Mr. Wong briefed General Secretary Trong on Singapore’s political, social and economic situation as well as its achievements in the development process.

The Vietnamese Party leader highly valued the effective cooperation between the two countries and congratulated Singaporean people’s socio-economic achievements.

Mr. Trong also conveyed his best wishes to Singaporean leaders.
