In Vietnam, people’s right to freedom of belief and religion is clearly stipulated in the Constitution and is respected and ensured in reality. This is acknowledged by the international community.
Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi made the affirmation in Hanoi on September 14 in reply to reporters’ questions on Vietnam’s response to comments by the US Department of State on religious freedom in Vietnam stated in the Report on International Religious Freedom in the July 2010-December 2010 period.

Although the US Department of State’s report covered Vietnam’s achievements in this field, it still gave subjective assessments and wrong information on Vietnam, he said.
