Vietnam raises resolute objection to Taiwan’s illegal live-fire drill

VOV.VN - The nation resolutely opposes and demands Taiwan to cancel its live-fire exercises in the waters around Ba Binh island belonging to Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and not to repeat similar actions in the future.

Spokeswoman of the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang made the statement in reply to reporters’ query on Vietnam’s response to the live-fire drill conducted by Taiwan from June 28-June 29.

Vietnam's stance towards Taiwan's live-fire in the waters around Ba Binh island belonging to the Spratly archipelago is clear, consistent and has been affirmed for many years, Hang went on to say.

The action seriously violates Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over Truong Sa, threatens peace, stability, safety and security of navigation, induces tensions and complicates the situation in the East Sea, she added.

The country resolutely objects to and demands a halt to these activities and not repeat them in the future, the spokesperson emphasized.
