Vietnam considers enhancing the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Romania as well as traditional Eastern European friends a priority in its foreign policy.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made this statement at a meeting with the visiting Chairman of Romanian House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Relations, Korodi Attila, in Hanoi on November 8.

Mrs Ngan described Korodi Attila’s visit significant to strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies.

She noted with pleasure the fruitful development in the friendship and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and spoke highly of the Romanian House of Representatives’ establishment of the Romania-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The Vietnam NA is establishing the Parliamentary Friendship Organisation, including the Vietnam-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mrs Ngan said.

She thanked the Romanian Parliament for creating conditions for Vietnamese NA delegations to study and exchange experiences, saying she hopes that the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies will develop further.

For his part, Korodi Attila said Romania wishes to boost relations between the two legislative bodies as well as the two countries.

Romania is ready to work as a bridge that links Vietnam with the European market, he said, expressing hope that Vietnam will help Romania enhance trade relations with Asian countries.

On the same day, Mrs Ngan witnessed the signing of a protocol on cooperation between Vietnam’s NA Office and the Secretariat of the Romanian House of Representatives.
