Vietnam persists with Ho Chi Minh Thought in Party building

Ho Chi Minh Thought on the ruling Party is the selected continuation and creative application of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh Thought on the ruling Party reaches a higher level as it states that the ruling Party is the Party of the classes, the Party of the whole nation, the Party of the entire people, the Party in society, and the Party that involves people’s participation, organization, inspection, and oversight.

In Vietnam, ruling is the political task and historic mission of the Party. History shows that ruling is the momentous mission that the nation and people assign the Party.

Correct political path is the most important aim

Identifying the correct political path for developing the nation and building socialism is the most important aim of the ruling Party. President Ho Chi Minh always asked the entire Party to increase theoretical qualifications and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism to discover the development rule of the Vietnamese revolution. President Ho Chi Minh stressed the importance of applying the approach and methodology of Marxism-Leninism to problems in Vietnam.

This Thought provides important guidelines for the Party leadership in all periods of revolution, especially when ruling the country. President Ho Chi Minh also reminded us of the need to prevent and correct wrong ideology within the Party and identify the correct political path.

According to President Ho Chi Minh, the Party does not exist to make officials promoted and wealthy. The Party must fulfill its task of liberating the country, making the country prosperous and its people happy. At the 30th founding anniversary of the Party in 1960, President Ho Chi Minh said the Party is great because the Party has no interests but the interests of classes, the people, and the nation.

Identifying the correct political path is the most important task of the ruling Party. Otherwise the Party can’t fulfill its mission.  

Throughout the process of leading the Vietnamese revolution, particularly when organizing Party Congresses, the Party and Party members are required to remain aware of and persist with Ho Chi Minh Thought and the Party guidelines on the ruling Party, prevent or promptly correct aberrant ideas or actions in building Party guidelines and signs of ignoring fundamental Party ideology embraced by President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Ruling mission depends on Party members’ morality

In his testament, President Ho Chi Minh reminded the Party and Party members to persist with the ideology “Our Party is a ruling Party. Each Party member and official must promote revolutionary morality, and pursue righteousness, industriousness, thrift, integrity, uprightness and selflessness. It’s important to maintain a pure Party worthy of leading and faithfully serving the people.”

The Party’s mission of ruling and leading the country depends on each Party member and official, their revolutionary morality, capacity, industriousness, thrift, integrity, uprightness and selflessness. The ability and dignity of Party members and officials are the primary conditions for the Communist Party of Vietnam to fulfill its ruling mission.

Improving the Party’s ruling capacity, ensuring the Party leadership, and maintaining the political stance of the Party, Party organizations, Party officials and Party members are the key factors in Party building as stipulated in the document of the 12th Party Congress.
