The Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Organization of the 13th National Assembly (NA) made its debut in Hanoi on November 23.

NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong was elected head of the Organization, which includes 46 parliamentary friendship groups.

In his speech at the My Dinh National Convention Centre, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that the establishment of the Organization was a significant event, aimed at strengthening external relations with foreign countries.

Vietnam’s renewal achievements during the past decades were, in part, owing to parliamentary friendship groups which had helped the country successfully implement its diplomatic policy of diversifying international relations, creating a peaceful environment and ensuring stability for national sustainable development, Mr Hung said.

He emphasized the role of the Organization in Vietnam’s diplomatic field, and wished that the Organization will make practical contributions to promoting the cooperation and friendship between the Vietnam NA and other countries’ legislative bodies.
