The first congress of the Vietnam-Palestine Friendship Association (2012-2017 term) on June 1 elected a new 18-member executive board headed by Nguyen Quang Khai, former Vietnamese ambassador to several Arab nations.

Chairman Khai said the focus of the association in this term will be on introducing to Palestinian friends the Vietnamese land, people and culture, as well as the cultural heritages of Hanoi - a safe destination for international friends.

The association will also provide free Arab language training courses and organize tours of Palestine to maintain and promote relations between the association and the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Palestinian Embassy in Hanoi, and Palestinian and Arab businesses.

Established in May 2012 as a voluntary social organization and a member of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-Palestine Friendship Association aims to contribute to strengthening the solidarity, friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Palestinian people.

In this term, the association expects to set up between 6-10 chapters.

So far, 11 out of 21 member organizations of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations have organized their congresses.

The congress of the union is scheduled to take place in July.
