During the meeting, Deputy PM Hung stressed the need for both countries to implement the agreements reached at the 2^nd session of the Vietnam-Pakistan joint committee and other memoranda of understanding signed earlier to make the current friendship and cooperation between the two countries more comprehensive in the near future.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi congratulated Vietnam on the success of the 17^th ARF. He expressed delight at the fine relations between Vietnam and Pakistan which he said have developed over the years, reflected through the bilateral visits at all levels and stepped up cooperation in national defence, trade and education.

He thanked Vietnam for supporting Pakistan’s efforts to increase its ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and said he believes his country’s relations with Vietnam and other ASEAN members will continue to develop in the future.
