Vietnam and the Netherlands are expected to cooperate in the fight against human and drug trafficking, the counterfeiting of documents, and illegal immigration, among other pressing issues.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Khanh Toan and Dutch officials discussed the possibility of cooperation during the former’s working visit to the Netherlands in late September - the first by high-ranking Vietnamese police officers.

The delegation had working sessions with the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the European Police Office (Europol) and local police forces.

Toan expressed his hope that Vietnamese and Dutch police forces will increase cooperation, especially in sharing experience and information, combating crime and training personnel.

Dutch officials spoke highly of Vietnam’s cooperation, particularly in the fight against illegal immigration.

The two sides also considered cooperating in high technology, communications networking and financial security.
