Vietnam, Nepal promote consular cooperation

VOV.VN - On October 31, the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi solemnly held a ceremony to present a decision appointing Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal to Rajesh Kazi Shrestha.

This marks the third time that Shrestha has been appointed to the position on the basis of his various contributions to citizen protection and trade promotion between Vietnam and Nepal.

Upon addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to India, concurrently Nepal and Bhutan, Nguyen Thanh Hai congratulated Shrestha, considering this to be an important milestone in the relationship that exists between the two countries. In addition, it is also an achievement that the Embassy, as well as Vietnamese and Nepalese competent agencies, have recorded over the years as they seek to step up co-operation in the consular field.

The Vietnamese diplomat outlined his hopes that with a strong traditional friendship and with his capacity, experience, and profound sentiment towards Vietnam, Shrestha would competently fulfill assigned tasks. This would therefore contribute to strengthening economic, trade, cultural relations, and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

In response, Shrestha said this was an important event in both his life and career. He therefore thanked Vietnamese and Nepalese agencies for providing the optimal conditions for him to continue to take on this noble position.

He expressed his strong determination to perform his representative role well, be dedicated to carrying out related activities, including citizen protection and support for the local Vietnamese community, spreading information about the land and people of Vietnam in Nepal, and boosting bilateral ties across multiple fields.

Amid growing relations, especially in the post-COVID period, the re-appointment of Shrestha as Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal has timely met the need to foster extensive co-operation between the two countries while properly handling consular and economic issues that may arise.

Born in 1961, Shrestha is a successful businessman in several fields. He used to be the Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Services, president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Nepal-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
