Vessel 18 under Brigade 171 of Naval Region 2 actively participated in activities within the framework of Exercise Kakadu 2024 on September 10-11 in Darwin, Australia.

On September 11, Fleet Command of the Royal Australia Navy Rear Admiral Christopher Smith received Rear Admiral Nguyen Viet Khanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy.

At the reception, Christopher Smith thanked Vietnam for sending a ship to join non-combat activities for the first time within the framework of the exercise, affirming that the participation contributes to the success of the exercise.
Khanh thanked the Royal Australian Navy for inviting the Vietnamese navy to the exercise. He said this is an opportunity for countries’ navies to learn, share experience and strengthen solidarity and friendship.

The same day, Vietnamese officers and sailors engaged in football and volleyball matches and overcoming underwater obstacles with 15 other teams. The Vietnamese navy's art troupe also joined cultural and culinary exchanges.

Previously, on September 10, Khanh attended the Fleet Commanders' Roundtable 2024 chaired by Rear Admiral Christopher Smith with the participation of more than 30 representatives of countires' navies. At the event, delegates shared experience in minimising damage caused by natural disasters and epidemics, and agreed on the need to strengthen international cooperation to support each other in emergencies.
