During the visit, the delegation held talks with the host, Myanmar Prime Minister, Gen. Thein Sein, who is a member of the State Peace and Development Council and a Vice President of the Union Solidarity and Development Association.
Host and guest agreed that the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries should be further developed to enhance bilateral cooperation.
PM Thein Sein congratulated the Vietnamese people on their achievements over the recent past and called on Vietnamese businesses to invest in Myanmar, especially in the exploitation and processing of timber, agricultural and aquatic products, hydro-electricity, mineral exploitation, rubber planting and consumer goods production.
He said he hoped the two governments would create favourable conditions for businesses of the two countries to promote investment and cooperation.
The two sides also agreed on major contents of further cooperation between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Myanmar Union Solidarity and Development Association, contributing to boosting bilateral cooperation.
They pledged to encourage people to preserve and develop the Vietnam-Myanmar solidarity, friendship and cooperation; join efforts with the government and authorities at all levels to implement the two countries’ cooperation programmes; exchange information and coordinate activities in regional and international matters of mutual concern; and annually exchange delegations and experience.
While in Myanmar the Vietnamese delegation worked with Htay Oo, Secretary-General of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, and the Myanmar Commerce and Industry Association.
