Vietnam looks to broader cooperation with Italy’s Calabria region
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung paid a working visit to the southern region of Calabria on June 20-21 to find ways to augment cooperation between localities of the region and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese diplomat had a working session with Vice President of the region Giuseppina Princi who voiced her hope that the visit will open up specific opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam.
Calabria greatly values Vietnam’s development and innovation models as well as socio-economic development achievements over recent years, especially digital transformation and innovation, which are also priority areas that the region desires to strengthen the exchange of experience and cooperation, alongside trade, investment, tourism, culture, and education, Princi told her guest.
Hung applauded the strategic partnership and good traditional friendship between the two nations, with positive results in politics, economics, trade, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. These advantages, along with similarities in development priorities and policies of the two sides, will be positive conditions to help them beef up cooperation in line with their full potential.
On this occasion, Ambassador Hung met leaders of Cantazaro and Vibo Valentia cities, and attended economic connection activities such as the Vietnam-Calabria Connection Forum organized by the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria) of the Calabrian region in Cantazaro city, and a roundtable on economic cooperation with typical businesses in Vibo Valentia.
He glowingly spoke of Calabrian businesses’ plans to dispatch working delegations to visit Vietnam in the time to come and pledge to always support them in the process of learning about and carry out cooperation activities in Vietnam.
