Vietnam and Libya agreed to increase bilateral cooperation in all fields at the 11th session of their joint committee in Tripoli from November 21-24.  

The chairmen of the two sub-committees discussed measures to promote cooperation in a wide range of fields such as external politics, economics, trade, investment, science-technology, post and telecommunications, petroleum, culture, education and health care.

They agreed that the next session will be held in Hanoi in 2010.

During his stay in Libya, Minister of Contruction Nguyen Hong Quan who led the Vietnamese delegation to the session paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Baghdadi A.Mahmmodi, met with the Libyan Minister of Public Works and attended the Vietnam-Libya Business Forum.

The Libyan Prime Minister praised the Vietnamese businesses for taking part in construction projects in Libya, saying that Libya will continue to facilitate Vietnamese guest workers.

On addressing the Vietnam-Libya Business Forum, Minister Nguyen Hong Quan highlighted the traditional friendship  between the two countries, saying that the joint committee and both governments will do their best to create a legal corridor for joint activities amongst businesses from both countries. Minister Quan said that the two business communities should step up exchanges in the fields of investment, construction and the production of construction materials.

The Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with the Libyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited the project management board for housing and infrastructure to seek out investment opportunities in construction sector and for purchasing construction materials from Libya.
