Vietnam launches citizen protection measures in Gaza-bound flotilla case
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel said on May 20 that it is implementing citizen protection measures for Tieu Nguyen Bao Ngoc, a Vietnamese citizen who joined a Gaza-bound flotilla organized by Global Sumud Flotilla and was detained by Israeli authorities.
Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Consular Department under Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with Vietnamese representative offices in Israel, Egypt and Turkey, as well as relevant agencies in Vietnam, to verify the case.
The department has also actively contacted and exchanged information with the family of Tieu Nguyen Bao Ngoc to facilitate verification and citizen protection efforts.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel has contacted Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request verification of information related to the case, requested that humane treatment be ensured, and called for full compliance with relevant international regulations and conventions concerning citizen protection and human rights.
A representative of the embassy said it is continuing close coordination with local authorities and closely monitoring developments to provide necessary support measures for the Vietnamese citizen involved in the incident.
As the security situation in the Middle East remains complex, the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel advised Vietnamese citizens to strictly comply with regulations in Middle Eastern countries, regularly monitor security warnings issued by local authorities and Vietnamese representative offices in the region, and avoid areas affected by conflict or security risks.
The embassy said it will continue updating information and implementing necessary citizen protection measures in accordance with Vietnamese law and international practice.
