The 4th round meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee for Border Markers Placement took place from November 22-24 in the Lao capital city of Vientiane.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son, who is also Head of the National Border Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee for Border Markers Planting, and Bounkeut Sangsomsack, Lao Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the Lao Border Committee and Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Joint Committee for Border Markers Placement attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the planting of border markers in recent years and discussed measures to complete the marker system along the Vietnam-Laos borderline by 2012.

The two sides applauded their joint working teams for having placed 489 markers and located the sites for 662 others in 2011.

At the meeting, the two sides signed a Framework Protocol on the shared borderline and planting of border markers between the two countries and a related regulation to serve the compilation of a Protocol on the Vietnam-Laos borderline and national border markers.
