Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for strong development of the special traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos while receiving Lao Chief of General Staff, Major General Kenkham Senglathone in Hanoi on May 3.

The PM said that the armies of the two countries should continue to develop cooperation and expand bilateral cooperation in various areas.

The same day, Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army received Major General Kenkham Senglathone and his delegation.


The two sides informed each other of the political, social and economic situation as well as the building of the armed forces in their respective countries. They were eager to promote comprehensive cooperation in personnel training, exchange information and high-level delegations, and continue the search and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteers who died in Lao during the war.


The Lao delegation was later received by Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh.
