Mr Sayasone made the statement while receiving General Le Van Dung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of the General Politics Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, in Vientiane on March 31.

He described the current Laos visit by General Dung and his high-ranking delegation as a reflection of the success of cooperation agreements signed between the two national defense ministries earlier this year.

The Lao leader thanked Vietnam for its assistance in recent years and briefed his guest on Laos’ socio-economic development achievements and challenges.

He expressed his hope that Laos would continue to receive help from Vietnam in order to fulfill numerous national socio-economic programmes.

He called on military politicians to be conscious of regional and world situations and conditions, to raise soldiers and officers’ awareness of being vigilant towards building a common peace around the world.
