About 200 delegates, including military officers, social scientists, military historians and war veterans from Vietnam and Laos attended a seminar in Hanoi on October 29 to mark the 60th traditional day of the volunteer force (October 30).

The event was entitled “Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and specialists helping Laos – Symbol of the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and combat alliance.”

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Defence Minister Phan Trung Kien said that the special solidarity and combatant alliance between the two armies and people have been affirmed and become a symbol of determination and bravery.

On behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sounthone Sayachak expressed her deep gratitude to Vietnam for its invaluable assistance, especially the devotion of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and specialists during their past resistance wars against French and US aggressors and during the process of national construction and development.

Participants in the seminar heard over 60 speeches on the revolutionary standpoints of Vietnam and Laos and the special relationship between the two countries.
