Vietnam will do its utmost, together with the Lao people, to continue developing bilateral ties in a deeper, more practical and effective manner.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed this at a reception for Lao Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Sengaphone in Hanoi on December 22.

PM Dung expressed his pleasure at the fine development of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship which he said is an invaluable asset of the two Parties, two States and two peoples.

The Government leader spoke highly of the close cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security, saying these efforts have made practical contributions to strengthening solidarity.

He assured his guest that the Vietnamese Government always supports intensive cooperative activities between the two ministries, especially in the sharing of experience and information on security protection in each country, mutual assistance in personnel training, and coordination in protecting border security.

For his part, Minister Thongbanh Sengaphone stated that his ministry will closely coordinate with its Vietnamese counterpart in implementing cooperative activities as well as new programmes.

He expressed his hope that the Lao Ministry will receive continued support, cooperation and experience sharing from Vietnam in training cadres and ensuring security and order, while hosting international conferences.

He suggested the two sides further coordination in fighting transnational crime and drug trafficking as well as maintaining border security and order.
