The Special Working Boards (SWBs) of the Vietnamese and Lao Governments met on December 25 in Vientiane to discuss their continued cooperation in seeking and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who died in Laos during the war.

The Vietnamese delegation to the meeting, the 11th of its kind, was led by Lieutenant-General Bui Van Huan, Deputy Director of the General Politics Department of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Director of the SWB.

Major-General Kensi Manivong, Deputy Director of the General Politics Department of the Lao People's Army and Deputy Director of the SWB, headed the Lao delegation.

Both sides highly valued their close and efficient co-ordination, with a total of 720 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers being found and repatriated in the 2005-2006 dry season.

They expressed their pleasure at the achievements made in line with the Minutes of the 10th Meeting held in August 2005 in Vietnam's central province of Nghe An, and agreed that the special working groups of Vietnam have always received assistance from agencies, localities and people of Laos.
