Vietnam’s Dien Bien province and Laos’s Luang Prabang province inaugurated border marker No.144 on  the Huoi Puoc – Na Son border on January 10.
 

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee Hoang Van Nhan said the inauguaration, in line with the annoucement to upgrade 28 border markers in Dien Bien province, lays a firm legal foundation for the two provinces and countries to mark their territory and protect their sovereignty, as well as devise plans for socio-economic development in the region.

Kham Dua, Deputy Secretary of Luang Phrabang province, spoke highly of the border marker inauguration, saying it demonstrates the special friendship between Laos and Vietnam and he hopes it will boost the mutual trust and solidarity between the two nations.

The border marker also reflects the two countries’ policies of peace, friendship and sustainable cooperation, he said.
