Vietnam keen to bolster co-operation with Pakistan

VOV.VN - The nation aspires to further enhance its co-operation with Pakistan across a wide range of fields, especially economics and trade, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Pakistan Nguyen Tien Phong.

During a ceremony held to present his letter of credence to Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi, Ambassador Phong conveyed greetings and regards from President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Ambassador Phong went on to express his pleasure and honour at taking on his tasksin Pakistan, a country that is making great strides in terms of economic development, thereby gradually ensuring political stability and security, whilst playing an important role in South Asia and throughout the wider world.

The Vietnamese diplomat added that he would do his best to bolster bilateral co-operation, with a specific focus placed on maintaining and promoting existing co-operation mechanisms along with both political and economic consultations.

This is along with striving for greater co-operation in economic and trade development and investment as a means of achieving high growth in trade turnover whilst boosting co-operation in culture, education, sports, tourism, and training high-quality workers involving in technology and information.

Ambassador Phong used the occasion to state that mutual ties will continue to grow and flourish moving forward as this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both sides under the direction of senior leaders.

In response, President Alvi conveyed his greetings to President Phuc and congratulated both Vietnamese leaders and citizens on the important socio-economic achievements recorded over recent years. This includes the successful organisation of the 13th National Party Congress and the 15th National Assembly election, as well as Vietnam's impressive achievements in combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Alvi expressed his confidence that Ambassador Phong would competently fulfill his tasks as a means of contributing to consolidating and further developing the friendship and general co-operation between both sides in a multitude of fields, especially economic and trade ties.
