Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem will pay an official visit to Japan from May 22-26 at the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on May 10.

The visit aims to implement the agreements made by the two countries’ prime ministers during exchange visits in 2006.

The two sides are expected to discuss measures to develop the relations of friendship and cooperation towards a strategic partnership. They will also exchange views on specific ways to cooperate in economic, trade and investment areas.

During his time in Japan, Mr Khiem will hold talks with his counterpart Taro Aso and meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and officials from the National Diet of Japan, as well as representatives of organizations such as JICA and JIBIC.

Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem will also attend a conference on the Asian future, in which regional leaders will exchange ideas on economic and technological issues concerning Asia.
