Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh made this statement at a reception for Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Yasuaki Tanizaki, in Hanoi on July 11. 

Vinh affirmed that Vietnam is willing to host and attend the Defence Strategy Dialogue at the deputy ministerial level with Japan this year. 

At the reception, the two sides agreed that the two countries’ cooperation in the field of defence has been developing actively.

They also agreed that Vietnam and Japan should actively prepare for the Vietnamese Defence Minister, Gen. Phung Quang Thanh’s official visit to Japan, scheduled to take place by the end of this year.
