The two sides reviewed national defense cooperation over the past year, proposed orientations for future cooperation and compared notes on regional and international issues of common concern, and discussed agendas and cooperation mechanisms for  the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM+) which is scheduled for Hanoi in mid- October.

They agreed on specific measures to implement the accords signed during Vietnamese Defence Minister, Phung Quang Thanh’s visit to India last year.

This week, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Chi Vinh paid a courtesy visit to Indian Minister of National Defense A.K. Antony and conveyed Defense Minister Thanh’s personal invitation to Mr Antony for the ADMM+.

Accepting Mr Thanh’s invitation, Mr Antony praised Vietnam’s role in ASEAN, saying that ADMM+ will present a new security model of great interest to India.
