“We have had an overview and a strong impression of the vitality of Vietnam, its land and people as well as the time-honoured friendship between Vietnam and China,” said Deputy Head of the Department for Radio- Cinematography-Television of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region Su Xin Sheng in HCM City on May 3 after his delegation concluded their ten-day visit to Vietnam.
From April 24 to May 4, nearly 40 reporters from China Radio International, Hong Kong Phoenix Satellite TV and Guangxi People’s Radio and Television toured seven big Vietnamese provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang and HCM City and visited a number of industrial parks, cultural relic sites, sea- ports and enterprises.
They interviewed State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Vietnamese entrepreneurs, intellectuals and other people, and produced more than 200 news stories and articles and 200 photos featuring Vietnam’s drastic changes after implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, the tremendous achievements and experience in socio-economic development and international cooperation as well as prospects for economic, cultural and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China. Their media products were widely covered by the Chinese mass media, capturing the major public attention in China and ASEAN countries.
In HCM City- the last stop-over, the delegation exchanged views with representatives from Vietnam’s centrally and locally-run media agencies.
Mr Sheng said the delegation’s trip to Vietnam was successful as it fully reflected the regional cooperation between Vietnam and China and between Vietnam and Guangxi as well, thereby helping to promote the mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. Most of their news stories and articles highlighted the great potential for cooperation between Vietnam and China and Vietnam’s role in serving as a bridge between China and ASEAN countries.
On this occasion, Chinese reporters also interviewed Vice Chairman of the HCM City Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai about HCM City’s role in developing the securities market, attracting foreign investment and working out plans for future development.
On the morning of May 4, the delegation left Vietnam for Cambodia, continuing their 50-day tour of 35 cities in 10 ASEAN countries in the “China-ASEAN Cooperation Itinerary”.
