Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has expressed hopes that Singapore and Denmark will continue cooperation with Vietnam in all fields for mutual benefits.

At a meeting with Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Simon Wong Wie Kuen in Hanoi on February 16, PM Dung spoke highly of the diplomat’s efforts to promote cooperation programmes and projects between the two countries.

He also expressed thanks for contributions made by the Prime Minister of Singapore to the fulfillment of Vietnam’s mission as 2010 ASEAN Chair, saying he was delighted at the development in Vietnam-Singapore trade over the past year.

Mr Dung appreciated the Singaporean leaders’ views for peace, stability in the region and on the East Sea and asked both governments to maintain a dialogue mechanism on security, politics and diplomacy.

Singapore was Vietnam’s largest foreign investor in 2010, with a total capital of over US$4 billion. Almost all projects of Singapore brought efficiency, contributing to promoting the link between the two economies.

The Singaporean ambassador said in January, Singaporean businesses invested a total of US$58 million in Vietnam, showing their strong confidence in the country’s economic potential. Singapore plans to invest in 6-8 projects worth about US$2-3 billion in Vietnam this year.

He said that Vietnam will create favourable conditions for the projects to be carried out soon, contributing to developing the two countries’ traditional relations.

**At another meeting with Danish Ambassador John Nielsen, also on February 16, PM Dung said 2011 is a significance year marking the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Denmark diplomatic ties.

He said he hopes the Danish government will continue providing Vietnam with Official Development Assistance (ODA) to help the country deal with climate change.

The PM said he believes that bilateral cooperation will unceasingly develop in the political, diplomatic and economic fields.

Vietnam has improved infrastructure and conditions to welcome more Danish investors, said Mr. Dung.

He reminded both sides of the need to boost cooperation in education, human resource training, culture and sea transport, along with existing projects.

Mr. Dung welcomed the Danish Crown Prince’s plan to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 40th anniversary.

Ambassador Nielsen pledged to do his best to increase bilateral cooperative relations in the political, diplomatic, educational, commercial and cultural fields.

He affirmed that the number of Danish investors in Vietnam will increase in the near future as Vietnam, a WTO member, is becoming more and more attractive for foreign direct investment.
