Cooperating with the Netherlands in water management and climate change adaptation will help Vietnam build suitable strategies and policies, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during his visit to the Netherlands.

He made the statement at a meeting with Dutch Queen Beatrix on September 29.

He briefed the host on the results of his talks with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, saying that the two sides had worked out measures to develop bilateral ties in both scope and scale.

Vietnam and the Netherlands will give priority to such important issues as climate change adaptation, water management, agriculture, seaports, oil and gas, and logistics, PM Dung said.

He appreciated the Dutch Government’s experience in water management and climate change adaptation which is considered very useful to Vietnam, one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change and rising sea levels.

PM Dung expressed hope that the Netherlands will continue to create favourable conditions for investors to run businesses in both countries.

Dutch Queen Beatrix spoke highly of PM Dung’s current visit, stressing that this will contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

She said she was delighted at Vietnam’s recent socio-economic achievements, especially its successful implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
