Vietnam will continue to help Laos in training personnel and building personnel management frameworks, while the two countries will annually exchange visits of high-level delegations.

These commitments were made during talks between Vietnamese Minister of Home Affairs Tran Van Tuan and head of Lao General Department of Administration and Civil Servant Management Boun Phen Mounphosay in Vientiane on December 9.

To implement the commitments, the two ministers agreed to assign both countries’ relevant agencies to develop detailed plans to submit to their respective countries’ leaders for approval.

During their talks, they reviewed results from bilateral cooperation and mutual help and discussed ways to boost relations.

Minister Tran Van Tuan, who leads a high-level delegation, is on a working to visit Laos from December 8-10.

Also the same day, a ceremony was held in Vientiane to inaugurate the Lao National Archive Centre – a gift from the Vietnamese Government.

Construction of the centre which includes an archive space, an administration area and associated facilities has been underway since a year ago with non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government for the 2007-2010 period.
