Vietnam hopes to strengthen its traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with France, said Vice President of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association (VFFA) Trinh Ngoc Thai.
Speaking at a get-together marking France’s 220th National Day and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-France Friendship Bulletin in Hanoi on July 13, Thai described France as Vietnam ’s leading partner in terms of development assistance, trade, investment, cultural exchange and education.

Many big economic French groups are interested in investing Vietnam and consider the country as a strategic development partner in Southeast Asia. France has had over 200 projects totalling over US$2.4 billion in Vietnam.

Around 5,000 Vietnamese students are studying in France and many French language classes are held in Vietnam, the VFFA official said.

First published in 2000, the Vietnam-France Friendship Bulletin provides readers with various information covering a wide range of activities between the two countries, which has helped to boost bilateral ties.

The Cultural Charge d’affaires at the French Embassy, Emmanuelle Bouletreau, praised the publication, describing it as a significant source of information within the French-speaking community.
She expressed her hopes that the warm friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow and flourish in the future.
