A delegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Defence led by lieutenant general Nguyen Chi Vinh has attended a session of the Vietnam-France joint committee on National Defence Cooperation held in Paris.

The session reviewed the implementation of the agreement reached by Defense Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh’s official visit to France in 2009.

Both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral national defense cooperation based on the traditional friendship between the two countries in preparation for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future.

During his working visit in France, lieutenant general Vinh also met with French Admiral Edouard Guillaud, Chief of the Defence Staff to discuss regional issues of mutual concern.

Admiral Edouard Guillaud said France has closely followed the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and always wishes for peace and stability in the region. He insisted that all countries should act in a civilized manner and obey international laws.
