Vietnam expresses deep concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East
VOV.VN - Vietnam is deeply concerned about developments in the Middle East and called on relevant parties to exercise restraint and resolve differences through peaceful means in accordance with international law.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Pham Thu Hang made the statement on February 28 in reply to reporters’ questions about the country’s reaction to the current escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
“Vietnam is deeply concerned about the increasingly complex and escalating conflict in the Middle East, which seriously threatens the lives and safety of civilians, as well as peace and stability in the region and the world.
The nation calls on the parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint, immediately cease actions that escalate tensions, protect civilians and essential infrastructure, and resolve differences through peaceful measures, in strict compliance with international law, the Charter of the United Nations and relevant UN resolutions, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and creating favorable conditions for peace negotiations for security, safety, peace and stability in the region and the world,” the spokesperson stated.
In light of the latest developments in the Middle East, the MoFA and relevant domestic agencies have instructed Vietnam’s representative missions in Iran and Israel to coordinate closely with domestic authorities, Vietnamese missions in neighbouring countries, and host-country diplomatic bodies to closely monitor the situation and remain ready to implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens andas the representative offices' headquarters.
According to the latest reports from Vietnam’s representative missions in Israel and Iran, all Vietnamese citizens in these areas are currently safe.
The MoFA has advised Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Iran or Israel at this time, or to neighbouring areas affected by the conflict, unless absolutely necessary.
Vietnamese nationals currently in Iran, Israel and conflict-affected neighbouring areas are advised to maintain regular contact and closely follow updates from Vietnam’s representative missions in the two countries. Citizens are urged to strictly comply with local government regulations regarding travel and adhere to all MoFA safety warnings.
