Vietnam employs prompt measures to protect citizen in RoK:Spokesperson

Responding to reporters’ question at a regular press conference in Hanoi on the murder, the spokesperson said according to the embassy, the victim is Bui Cat Ha, who was murdered by her farther-in-law in Seoul’s Seongbuk District. The man has been arrested by local police.

The Vietnam Embassy has supported Ha’s family and issued a death certificate for the victim and a permit for her ashes to enter Vietnam, Hang added.

She noted that under the direction from the Vietnam Foreign Ministry, the embassy is closely following developments of the case to ensure justice is served and legal rights and interest of the Vietnamese citizen are protected.

Mentioning the trial of Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh (known as blogger Me Nam), who was charged with conducting anti-State propaganda under Clause 1 of Article 88 of the Penal Code, the spokesperson emphasized that just like in other countries, in Vietnam all law violations are strictly handled in line with the law.

“The investigation of Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh’s case has completed and now the trial is underway. The trial is carried out publicly in accordance with Vietnamese law. The court is yet to deliver its verdicts,” said Hang.

On the occasion of the regular press conference, the spokesperson announced a number of upcoming diplomatic activities.
