Vietnam, Egypt enhance comprehensive partnership
VOV.VN - Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation, Samar Al-Ahdal, had a working session Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Nam Duong at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates on June 4 to discuss ways to forge bilateral relations within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership established in August 2025.
The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the Department of Foreign Market Development under Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The two sides discussed the development of an action programme to implement the Comprehensive Partnership and preparations for the sixth session of the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation, which is expected to be held in Egypt in the near future.
Al-Ahdal affirmed that Egypt places great importance on its Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam and expressed hope that the sixth Joint Committee session will become a significant milestone in both nations’ longstanding relationship, while also serving as a symbol of South-South cooperation and solidarity.
She said the upcoming session will review the results of cooperation to date and promote new areas of cooperation across a wide range of fields, including diplomacy, trade, industry, agriculture, science and technology, culture, tourism and media.
The Egyptian side also proposed jointly organising a bilateral business and investment forum on the sidelines of the Joint Committee session to help private-sector representatives from both countries explore business and partnership opportunities.
For his part, Ambassador Nguyen Nam Duong said the development of the action programme represents a practical step toward realizing the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership established during State President Luong Cuong’s state visit to Egypt in August 2025.
He highlighted the Joint Committee as an important cooperation mechanism between the two governments and said Vietnam looks forward to the resumption of the mechanism after nearly a decade of interruption due to a range of objective factors.
The ambassador added that Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies have maintained regular exchanges with Egyptian counterparts to agree on the substance of discussions and organisational preparations for the forthcoming session, including the feasibility study process for a free trade agreement between the two nations.
Both sides expressed confidence that the upcoming Joint Committee session in Egypt will provide fresh impetus to bilateral relations, contribute to the implementation of the Comprehensive Partnership, and further deepen practical cooperation between the two countries in the coming period.
