The Vietnamese Government wants support from the UK to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty, as well as in coping with climate change and other challenges, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Deputy PM Nhan stated this while receiving the visiting UK Minister of State for International Development, Alan Duncan, in Hanoi on June 15.

He welcomed Duncan to the on-going senior level tripartite conference on Delivering as One (DaO) as Vietnam is one of the eight countries that have piloted the DaO approach.

Both politicians agreed that the two countries have seen some fine developments, in education and training, economics, trade and investment.

The UK is the only nation to have committed its ODA provision to Vietnam for ten consecutive years (2005-2015), said Deputy PM Nhan.

Mr. Duncan said that his government would help Vietnam to cope with climate change, education and training, investment, cultural exchange and other fields that were agreed on following visits to the UK by PM Nguyen Tan Dung and Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan.
